Yoga Wall Level I: April 24-26, 2020
Expand your knowledge and skill set as Yoga teachers through the unique capabilities of the Yoga Wall guided by two experienced Yoga therapists, Dr. Alison McLean DPT, E-RYT, C-IAYT and Elia Nikolaev E-RYT, YTRX. This weekend intensive will present a comprehensive introduction to the Yoga Wall, a tool to help enhance Yoga postures and their therapeutic applications and benefits by providing stability and space. In the Yoga Wall Teacher Training you will have the rare opportunity to expand your knowledge of the depth and breadth of Yoga. Learn traditional basic poses including standing poses, inversions, twists, backbends and forward bends from a different perspective, as well as alignment principles, injury prevention and healing taught by a physical therapist and a Yoga therapist.
Following the training you will be able to teach a Yoga Wall Class, giving you a specialization and receive a Yoga Wall Method Certificate. Teachers will be able to enrich their own skill set and build credibility within their own community as someone that draws from other methodological perspectives.

- Anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics in relation to the Yoga Wall
- Traditional Yoga postures utilizing the Yoga Wall: standing poses, inversions, twists, backbends, forward bends
- How to teach using the Yoga Wall and design a themed class (i.e. scoliosis, low-back pain)
- Alignment & adjustment cues to deepen practice and teaching
- Create an ambiance that promotes awareness and healing
- Independent Project to deepen your own grasp and understanding of the Yoga Wall
- Upon completion, you'll be able to teach a Yoga Wall/Yoga for a Healthy Back class.

- 15-hour Certification: 14 contact hours + 1 hour non-contact homework assignment

Yoga For Low Back Health
This weekend immersion is designed for certified Yoga teachers desiring to deepen their knowledge in spinal health, anatomy, bio-mechanics, pathologies, and the applications of Yoga to support Low Back Health.
Reaching beyond the physical & anatomical aspect of Yoga postures, this program offers a multi-faceted curriculum with in-depth areas of study providing an effective & sustainable approach to Yoga, Health & Wellness. Participants will gain an enriched skill set to support the well being of the whole person.
In This Training Attendees Will:
- Learn modifications of Yoga postures to support the low back
- Be introduced to the Yoga Wall and it’s benefits for the spine
- Deepen knowledge of anatomy of the spine and pelvis
- Develop sequences to support the low back including restorative, increased mobility & strength and traction
- Provide you with the skill set that assist with the well being of the whole person in context of the Yoga Koshas
- Use meditation and pranayama to support the lumbar spine
There will be opportunities to implement and practice the techniques during lab time. Teachers attending this training will build confidence in their ability to provide tools that help their students practice yoga safely as they age, for a lifelong practice.
You will emerge with a strong understanding of low back health as well as deeper understanding of anatomy and bio-mechanics of the spine, yoga postures to support the low back for 1:1 and class settings, including modifications and variations, and introductory knowledge of the Yoga Wall.

Curriculum And Modules
Physical Yoga postures for specific areas of the body, including various modalities of Yoga such as Yoga for strength, flexibility, relaxation or traction.
The layers of the Panchamaya Koshas will be woven in to create a holistic intervention for students and clients when combined with asana, meditation, pranayama, and essential oils.
Intro to Purusharthas (the 4 aims including dharma, artha, kama and moksha) and how they relate to health and wellness.
In each module, students will learn about relevant anatomy, bio- mechanics, and physiology to make a technique appropriate for a given student. Various applications will be explored through an individual Yoga practice, 1:1 teacher and student relationship, as well as a in a group setting. An opportunity to implement and practice Yoga techniques will be given in lab time. The training also includes the use of the Great Yoga Wall TM system.
Participants will develop a specific skill set, tools and confidence to help their students prevent, manage and heal injury, as well as work with students with specific medical concerns and special needs. These on going modules, group masterminding and mentoring consists of Weekend Modules Intensives, group mentor meetings, and mastermind coaching. Each module includes pathology, physical Yoga postures, as well as principles of emotional, mental & spiritual health and well being, essential oils and how to make a livelihood as a yoga teacher.
Applicable for Yoga Alliance Credit.
